    Question Bouvier question

Hi all... just wondering if anyone on here has a male bouvier and wouldn't mind helping me out?

My dad has one that was a rescue that has quite a bit of travel anxiety and I was thinking of buying him a thundershirt:

Thundershirt | Anxiety Treatment For Dogs | Thundershirt.com

and I need a measurement of your male bouvier's chest? My dad is Ontario and I want it to be a surprise. I think Sully might be a bit on the small end for size for bouviers but he's not a small dog.

The measurement I need is this one, around the chest, in centimeters:

Sully is older and was taken in as an adult dog and is a bit set in his ways. I've talked to him about desensitizing the dog to the travel, making it a positive experience, etc but the problem may lie in the trainer just as much as the dog Dad doesn't mind the barking, he loves the dog, but he does get pretty worked up in the car. I figure it's worth a shot?

Also if anyone has had any experiences with this product I wouldn't mind hearing about them.

    Thank you

Go to whole foods and buy rescue remedy. It's all natural and calms them.
Also get him to take him just around the block each day somewhere fun like the park so he relates it to a positive experience . Most dogs end up only going in the car when it's bad news. Vets, groomers. Pounds, SPCA etc..especially if he was a rescue dog. Takes time...

Ditto on the Rescue Remedy - it's made by Bach. Your beastie may not like the taste (I use the spray on Ember), but it does work.

From what I've heard, Rescue Remedy is more a quick fix band-aid that only works for an extremely short period of time. All the people on the Hugabull forum who've used the Thundershirt swear by it, including one girl who attends our Sunday training.

I'm just curious - if the purpose of the vest is to provide "....a gentle, constant pressure that has a dramatic calming effect for most dogs", could you use tensor bandages?

You could & people do with the same effects as the Thundershirt. It's just alot of wrapping, tightening.

Thank you, yes dad has tried desensitization (short positive trips) along with a few other things (crating, keeping in the front seat, giving him awesome treats along the way) and he rarely goes in the car for bad experiences. He has been to a dog trainer and I have consulted a couple of dog trainer friends. I'm not sure how much my dad sticks to it though as he seems to just have accepted the dog for the way he is lol

I have clients that used rescue remedy with mixed results, some good some not, but I prefer to try this.

Yes, in you sure can, but I like that the shirt is "all set to go" and easier for my dad.
