Hopefully if you're looking at this post you somehow categorize yourself in the title. Well.. that would be optimal, however doubtful.
My name is Derek Southworth and am somewhat new to this forum. I have recently graduated from BCIT's Bridge Watchman course, and the point of this post is to get my name out to this community. I'm simply looking for work in an industry that is near impossible to get into.
I recently gave Log-towing a chance and went through a 4 week training period with Quadrant Marine (Pacific Custom Log Sorting), but sadly the company only hired 1 of the 5 of us. So now I'm back looking for work, and at the moment trying to see if anybody with BCA is a local Mariner who has a position open.
I'm in this industry to work my but off and work hard and will take any division of Coast Guard; as well as barges, logs, fish, crabs, prawns.. ect. you name it, i'll take it. I do have a Bridge Watchman certificate as well as MED A-1, B-1 & B-2, High School graduation (2011) and can provide a resume, references if needed.
If you or someone you know is a Mariner able to hire or refer me to a company, please don't hesitate to contact me via PM (I'm hesitant to post my email to the forum). Everything will be taken seriously by me and if you are an employer, I can assure you that I can make you and your company proud.
Sincerely,
dsouthworth
ps. I will 'bump' this thread every week or so to keep it lurking around. You never know when the right person will stumble into this section.
