Help replacing laptop LCD inveter

Well my luck went down the pooper again. My laptops screen went poof earlier and well the LCD and everything is working. Although the bAcklight is off/not working. I now have an extremely dim screen. I've read around that it has something to do with the inverter. Does anyone know where I can go pick one up? I would love to get this fixed ASAP.

Sorry to hear that man, I would probably phone the guys at NCIX and see what they have or if they know a distributor for laptop components

how old is your laptop? in most cases if is an older laptop, replacing the the florescent bulbs in the screen works. lots of work tho.

Save yourself the few hundred dollars. You can easily DIY. Pick up the part either on ebay (LCD inverter | eBay) or through a local source. Just make sure it's indeed the inverter that needs replacement, sometimes, it may just be a lose connection internally. Good luck.

If it is under warranty then sure go back to the manufacture. If it is really old, then get a new one. If it is out of warranty but still fairly new and usable, there is a store at Hasting and Victoria called TheHackery. Laptop Repair Computer Repair, Recycling, and Sales in Vancouver. It is not a fancy store, (more like a second hand store or workshop), but it is cheap and the guys in there seems to know their stuff. I had my macbook pro screen replaced by them. These guys offered least price for the repair and the work was good. Of course you may also search on line for your parts and try it yourself, but the problem is if you order the wrong parts or defective parts, then you are on your own. Good luck with your repair.

Hey guys jus a quick update. The screen works right now I'm not sure if it's the inverter or the black light. The LCD turns on and the light works for a minute before all goes black again. It was also flickering prior to this event. What needs replacing? The backlight or inverter?

Im not sure about the inverter thing, but in my first job years ago when LCD came out. I only replace the the florescent bulb.. its very slim and brittle.. also u have to know where to order them.. I don't have those contact anymore.. u may try ordering them from Digikey but again its going to be alot of work.
