    Default Hip surgery ...

I was wondering if any one on the site has had Hip surgery? If so i wan to know how it went and how long it took to recover . I have a partial and full labral in my right hip from my car accident in 2010. I have a meeting with a specialist in a few weeks to see if i need to go under the knife. I'm not sure if i want to do it . I have never gone under the knife and not looking forward to this.

My sister just got a whole new hip. She was walking right away and within a few weeks no more crutches or cane.
Next hip coming up for her. The hockey players get their hips worked om and back playing. Look at Kesler. You'd be in good company,
I guess the best thing to do is write down all questions as once your there you tend to forget to ask some.
Main question I'd ask is how will it affect your later life. With or without. My mom wasn't a candidate for surgery and she is now in a care home having to be lifted etc. you heal fast when young. Are they doing an artificial one or just fixing things.

my step-mom called me from the recovery room when she first woke up - doesn't remember doing it, though lol She was taking small steps within days.

Her second hip was more work, but she was a few extra years into her sevenites by then. She was fully mobile within a couple of months

It will have a lot to do with your general health, your bone health, how well you heal, your attitude and the skill of your surgeon and post op team.

sorry to hear that Dave, but April is right on, with modern surgeons and procedures it's unbelievable what is possible. I'm sure the specialist will be able to provide you with plenty of information or litturature that will help put you at ease.

Always check into further detail like April said, after the fact, if you do or don't.

    Default hip surgery

they have hips and knees down to a fine art now. my wife had her knee done, did exactly what the Dr. told her for rehab and she is now 110%. Very fast recovery. And hips are supposed to be easier than knees! good luck with it.

Thanks to every one for the kind words of encouragement. I'm sure every thing will go well and I will be up and landscaping in no time. For What i have been told it will take about 3 months to heal up. They are not replacing my hip just fixing the tear in the labrum and also fixing my hip bone. It's almost like the injury Kesler had in the playoffs . I'm just bum out about missing 3 months of work . I"ll keep every one updated on how every thing goes.
