Default It's all Pamela's fault :) Thinking of doing a long shrimp condo tank!

Pamela's "tank give-away game" has gotten me thinking about setting up a new shrimp condo tank.

My little girl, Felicia, has developed a love for keeping colourful shrimp and I'm thinking of getting one longer tank, adding baffles and keeping several different species separately in a new shrimp condo tank.

Just loaded up on CRS, Taiwanese PFS, RCS (thanks to Fraggel Rock & Shaobo) and I just picked up some Hawaiian Volcano shrimp (brackish to full salt) from J&L.

I'm thinking of having brackish/salt in one chamber, and 2 other chambers for the fw shrimp. This way I could have more volume and still truthfully tell Irene that I'm downsizing from 2 tanks into 1

Would love to get something like Pamela's odd-dimensioned 20g long, but if not, my other option is to do this new shrimp condo tank with a reg.-dimensioned 20g long. Of course, if I get a tank wider than 10", then I have to shift the cabinet forward a few inches

I may even look into getting some glass cut and build a custom condo tank from scratch.

Felicia's been great at helping her Daddy with water changes (another 3 tanks done tonight) so I think I need to encourage her love of all things aquatic. Besides, it's a good way to convince Irene to let me set up a new tank

So, has anybody ever done a split "condo" tank with fw on one side and sw on the other?

    Anthony

I don't have any experience in that, but it sounds like a fun idea. I'll be picking up my first shrimp today and I have a feeling I'll enjoy them so much that I'll want to do something similar to what you are. Even if I promised myself no new tanks till I buy a house... >.>

Your MTS is all my fault First I got you to buy my nano tank at the auction & now I've got you wanting a long tank ...I'm definitely a bad influence on you

I think your idea to do a shrimp tank in that style would look terrific, but don't go shifting your cabinet because Irene might not be happy with that .

It's great that Felicia enjoys helping you! My kids aren't really into my fish ...except that one of them took some artistic license and 'decorated' the front glass of my 5 foot tank with felt pens a couple of weeks ago
