Nice critters, and an awesome camera
There's lots of info on the web concerning aquarium photography
You can take stunning shots with that new beast
Learn about ISO / white balance, shutter speed and back lighting, to name a few. Plus a cheapo tripod goes a long way. Turning off pumps and angles to the glass .... etc etc
    Good Luck

Nice shots ! Not so sure about using nails and plywood in aquarium though. The glue from the plywood will leach into the water. ABS pipes are relatively cheap by the foot at hardware stores. Clay pots halved is another option.

I didn't even spot that, I was just looking at the fishies and thinking how to help with the camera

Not sure where you see the nails and plywood. the caves are made from slate tile and the "nail you refer to my be a snail? I cut and siliconed all the tile myself.

The Canon software that comes pre-packed with your t3i is pretty invaluable - check that out too. Enjoy the camera! I haven't been a Canon dSLR shooter for very long but it's been a great hobby.
