Exclamation Pics Of My Thanksgiving Gifts

My Gf got me 2 fish this weekend as a thanksgiving gift.

The 1st is a Pumkinseed sunfish, He was getting beat up by the red zebra they had him with at Rogers so his fins are nipped but they will grow back shortly. He is about 4 inches right now and eats like an oscar.

The 2nd is a 8 inch jag cichlid. I am unsure of the sex but it is silver in the light not gold as most iv seen. hes verry layed back and not pushy.

I absolutely LOVE pumpkinseed sunfish. One of THE most attractive fish that are compatible with most aggressive cichlids.

That one, is not a pumpkin seed though. Its a green sunfish(Lepomis cyanellus). I have never kept these fish before, but i would assume the agression levels would be similar. Both these sunfish have potential to get very large, 10"+, I have seen in and around 6.5" MAX on pumpkinseed.

I am assuming he is trained to eat, they eat bugs and what not in the wild, so i am sure he wouldn't mind the odd cricket or too :P

Very cool fish though! you don't see sunfish to often, and i think there beauty is often ignored. When i build my pond, that's what will be in it

Hey nice fish. I have bread and raised Jags for years. Looks like a female to me. Male usually gets a bit of a hump on his head and his head is wider. At 8 inches she is almost full grown might grow to 10 if you have a big tank. They are fun and love to dig. A good flower pot or cave keeps them happy.
