Default Amendments made to the buy and sell rules

    http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/freshwater-livestock-25/read-before-posting-here-2805/

    Policy - NO resellers/retailers/breeders
The classified section is for hobbyists ONLY. If you are a retailer you are not allowed to post in classifieds, you must sign up for a sponsorship. Similarly, if you are breeding stock on a regular basis and re-selling for a profit, this is considered a business and you are not allowed to post in the classifieds, you must sign up for sponsorship.

We understand that this may be a grey area, but the spirit of the policy is to allow the hobbyist to sell the occasional extra piece of unneeded equipment and disallow someone who imports or purchases goods in bulk specifically for re-sale. Similarly, this policy allows for the hobbyist whose fish breed and they end up with extra fish that they don't know what to do with, but does not allow for the person with a basement filled with numerous breeding pairs which produce multiple broods on a regular basis.

What "regular" means shall be determined by moderators on a case-by-case basis. If a user is noted to be consistently and/or constantly offering the same or similar type of goods/fish for sale, then an investigation will be undertaken and action taken if necessary.

    Question;
What about folks who have fish in their tanks that constantly reproduce so extras are usually or seasonally available??? Like BN plecos for example. Or Endlers & such??
If you set up a tank to grow the young out in, does that make you a breeder????
    Cheers!!

    Don

That would not be a problem,,,

Eg. You breed your pleco's and sell them, as you do not need or want a tank full of them, your obviously a hobbyist selling what you have been fortunate enough to successfully breed, that is totally fine.

Now say you have many different variety's of Fish always for sale this could fall into a different catagory. As more then likely your more then a hobby breeder.

I think you will all agree as this site moves forward, this will be more then fair, for those that play by the rules and are NOT dealers posing as say someone who manages to breed a few fish. This should not present any problems

    Peace
    John

Don't let your mind wander. . . it's too small to be let out on its own.

Same thing, you are selling what you have successfully breed, and are obviously not a dealer selling and importing fish/shrimp for profit. However yes there is a monetary value on your shrimp, you deserve to make a few $ to help pay for your obsession

Don't buy things with intent to flip or resell- do not import fish or dry goods with intent to resell for profit. As hobbiests we expect people will try their hand at breeding fish, and will have babies, some times many babies( read pleco's as an example) to sell as result. That being said, we monitor and do not need to notified of people selling bn pleco's or cherry shrimp ( for example)

We want to encourage hobby projects, and extend the benefits of same to the other members.

Take fish bred or purchased strictly for resale to craigslist or to your LFS for credit trade in.

Hope that offers some further clarity.
