The duplicate posting of ads shouldn't apply to increase thread counts and interest for those willing to ship to the island, if you were to post in the Island's ads and main category.

It doesn't take much effort to actually ship an item, especially if you think of the enjoyment they'll appreciate of it.

Out of towners must feel somewhat "left out" at times; the more we in the lower mainland can facilitate their involvement the better. I, too, do not think posts for the island should count.

Actually, shipping is a pain in the backside, especially for shipping live stock. Special bags have to be purchased by the seller for that purpose; the seller has to make insulated boxes that few buyers want to pay for; the seller has to purchase heat packs that buyers complain are too expensive even when sold at cost; and you need to time the trip to the post office to minimize 'sitting around' time, which is hard on the animals.

Or busing (lots of us do it) to the Greyhound station so that the buyer gets cheaper freight for non-live oversize items (it's a 1.5 hour return trip for me).

I've responded to a half dozen inquiries about sending things up to Prince George, including driftwood, and never once received a reply back.

On this forum, if you say you accept paypal and that you ship, someone will likely accuse you of being a professional breeder and insist you pay 'sponsor' rates for posting your ad.

I've only ever shipped non-live stock up north with little hassle. Shipping live stock is definitely more involved, you're absolutely right on the money.

I wouldn't know about the last comment though as I've never been accused of that.

I have both sent and received items - used Harbour Air - great rates and easy access for Nanaimo. I would buy a lot more from fellow members if they were willing to ship, I just factor the shipping into my purchase price...

    +1 to that.

harbor air is effective and cheap for Victoria and nanaimo, and the ride is fast. so if packed properly they will make it no problem.
