To follow up on this thread I just wanted to provide an update. I was the one that ordered this for Crazyfish88 as we just put the order through together.
Initially I had them price match with another site, which has been explained and gone over. However since then a couple things have happened.
I got my half of the order , and could tell there was no 55w uv sterilizer in there. Not a problem as I knew there were two packages. Expected date came and past, gave a couple days and the Canada post tracking was not updating that it had left Vancouver. I live in Victoria so thought it would be coming any day.
It did not, and never updated so I called Canada post, they said it can take 24 hrs.. that went and no update. So gave it a bit then I asked if anyone could even find the package as it hadn't been updated in 4 days in the Richmond center. They said they couldn't find it, so now not so happy as my buddy needed the uv sterilizer sooner than later.
Gave it a bit more time and canada post said call Big al's and get them to initiate a expedited search request or something along those lines, essentially it is putting pressure on canada post to look for it quicker than the 5-10 days they quoted me. I called in and spoke to a supervisor, he said that the next morning, today, their shipping rep would do the work and he would call me back first thing this morning.
That came and went, and then I found out that the parcel had actually been sent back to Mississauga. I will admit it is better that I didn't get a broken one, but I had to wait on hold with Canada Post for 1 hour to get that info. I never got a call from Big als, which I find more irritating.
I called into Big Al's and spoke to the same rep as the day before, the guy who gave me to his supervisor. He knew who I was and said the supervisor just went out for lunch and he'd get him to call me back asap. Time goes by supervisor does not return, so rep called me back.
I had asked him what the options were, and he said I could
wait for it to get returned, then they clear the return and resend it to me
order another one
get a refund.
I was now somewhat irritated as they knew the package was coming back and thought they might just be able to send me one to help me out as they knew the product was coming back and I had already paid for one with delivery date that had well passed.
I said I couldn't wait and the rep said ok bye and hung up before I could ask for any confirmation number or anything about the refund.
This post is just a heads up, and update to the thread, so take it how you want to. This is a forum and reviews are meant to be shared, good or bad. Based on this interaction, I will never deal with Big Al's again. Shipping is not their fault, as things happen, but when you say you will do something such as a call back and there is none that's not cool, and when you hang up on a customer that is never alright. I can understand if someone is being belligerent or rude, but I was not and this is something that I find unacceptable.

PS. if there are any big als reps here perhaps you guys should crisp up your web page about the price matching if you are going to be sticklers to the fine print:
