    Default Breeder Poll

As a Breeder and in the last few months I've seen not much of anything being moved on this website, Alot of my stuff has been going to people on Kijjii,Craigslist and quite a bit to LFS,.
I have no problem with that, I'd rather sell to this community instead of others.
Not sure if my prices are too high???but remember when my product goes to any LFS they in turn will sell it higher then what I'm asking
Maybe i have a limited selection?????? do I?????
    So here is the poll,
What are you the buyer looking for??
Not sure how the Poll thing works but I've set it up for the Max 25 enteries.
Mollies?Swords?Angels of all types? Discus?Cichlids Mbuna,Haps, all rift lake, non rift lake,Guppies, endlers,Plecos,Killifish,Tetras?,Cats?Gouramis?wha t do people need ? what do people want?
Anyways just thought I'd plop that out there..

    Cheers...

German Blue Rams, (especially long fin's) and Galaxy Rasabora's for myself my two fav breeds. I did select guppies selective but don't know what that exactly meant...lol... sounded that it could be interesting tho.

It's not just you, I've noticed it too. BCA just isn't the same as it used to be. I don't see the buying/selling power here anymore as well. I remember a few years back when people were moving huge 220 gallon tanks as if they were cherry shrimps. But lately, there hasn't been much happening here on the forum...maybe this is what a post apocalyptic world might feel like if the politicians don't get their act together and come up with a fix to this economy...anyways I voted.

since nano tanks are becoming popular outside the down town core now, perhaps the smaller species like galaxy/emerald/boraras types. Killies and hard to find bettas could help too. Shrimp are getting saturated and high quality shrimp don't move here. many of the cichlid keepers i find are breeding themselves now here, or the ones left, so that has created a bit of saturation in this community.

as for this community slowing down, the classified are keep going, jsut some common sellers and many others with MTS have disappeared due to real life situations so it seems slower. There is an issue getting the word of this site out. Would be nice if some of the LFS sponsors advertised here a bit in return as it took me years to even find out about this place from word of mouth.

perhaps there could be a sponsor rebate if they simply have a poster up in their shop (or a stack of business cards with the site on it). Sure it may take away a few fish sales, but it better promotes the hobby by having a central place for discussion.

To many of the following around
    Angelfish
    albino cories
    bronze cories
    electric yellow labs
    red empress
    keyholes
    kribensis
    frontosa
when there is too many of these things around they start to lose their appeal, at least in my opinion.

I completely agree with you on this one. If you wanna breed something to sell. Go import some unknown or less common species. Some suggestions of mine would be red terrors, Peruvian angels, scarlet badis badis, Geophagus. And other smaller ones as smaller tanks seem to be popular at this time.

I think people's tastes vary on almost a daily basis. So predicting what they want can be difficult. Basically people want what they want when they want it. Can be a tough time for a breeder of any one species or group of specific ones. Personally I'm into plecos and SA cichlids at the moment but that could change at anytime....

Keyholes...Really? They seemed pretty hard for me to find when I was searching for them =\ But I definately agree on the rest of the list.

Well, alot of people on this forum have established tanks already and unless they are setting up a new tank its unlikely they can fit more. I've passed so many good deals just because I can't fit them. I agree on breeding rarer and more diffulcult to breed fish on being able to sell them.

Can't help but agree with Brisch!

In my opinion there can never be enough killifish and I don't understand why I almost never see them on this site. They are easy to care for, don't need big tanks, are probably the most beautiful of all fresh water fish and are really easy to breed for the most part. If anyone has any they are looking to sell, shoot me a pm.

The other fish I love and are also colourful and most of th things I have mentioned above are apistogrammas, which are seen from time to time, but I would love to see more of a selection.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so everyone will have a different opinion on this one, but I thought I would add my 2 cents.

I used to raise fish years back, however I've gone planted as there is less of a commitment to propogating plants then rearing macroscopic fry . With that being said, I may be going through some downsizing and upgrading this year.

    Just my 2 cents.
