    Default Airbaggedmazda's Discus growout

First of all, I've already won because of the experience. I have always thought discus are a very cool looking fish but never got around to keeping any myself. I am already dreaming of the future discus I will be owning after my trip to Rick's house and seeing the selection he has.

    My discus setup

    Brand new 20g tank
    40g tank with aged water
    bubble wall
    aquaclear 50
    86 degree water temp.
    and 90% water change everyday.

I have a 20g tank in the bottom of a stacking stank with a 40g tank on top with aged water set to 86 degrees. I have a fill tube for filling the bottom tank with a valve for quick and safe refills. It takes me about 10 minutes to drain and refill the 20g tank.

Driftwood will be added soon to make it look nicer.

I picked up my discus from Rick on Saturday afternoon. They hid in the corner for the first day but now are much more active. I can't believe how much food these little guys can pack away.

So far I have been feeding mostly bloodworms and a little bit of tetra granuales and flake.

Great system with aging the water above. The daily 90% water changes will have these little guys growing like weeds. Good luck in the contest!

Yeah well, I wanted to do daily 100% or 95% water changes and I wanted to be able to do it fast so I don't stress the fish to much.

I took a couple pictures tonight of them after finishing the daily 100% water change.

I have been very inpressed with the growth rate of these fish. They have been showing alot more color in the last week.

I did however have a runt in my group that did not grow at all, and died last weekend.

Coming along nicely, looks like your water change system is working out well.
