    DefaultDiscus Pair Breeding!

    HI All,
I recently got a proven male and proven female disucs from Rick. (Not proven together)

I placed it in my 20 gallon tank (vs. my 40 gallon planted tank) as I saw rick has done something similar with his breeding pairs

In this tank there's 2 pairs of apisto agasizzi double reds from April but they were seperated by a clear mesh divider in the middle.

Last week when I purchased the 2 disucs i placed the discus one on each side, with the intentions of pumping them full of live and freeze dried high protein food, preping them for breeding then removing the divider next week (looky no touchy)

The female and male discus were shaking and doing the usual discus spawning rituals

But today after completing a water change in the tank i realize the female discus had already laid eggs on the apisto ceremic cave.

I'm sure the male didn't fertilize these eggs but I've removed the divider and hopefully according to my previous pairs of breeding discus they should lay eggs again in 5 ~ 7 days.

Now just got to get a hold of a spawning cone of somesort and hopefully they won't lay eggs on the heaters and damage themselves.

    Just sharing my story!

    Great Discus from Rick!

thanks! Wish me luck on breeding!

    Raymond

should be ok, pretty healthy pair from Rick as with all his discus,

I've gotten my wild browns and domestic and domesticxwild to wiggler stage before, but never past it due to time commitments, but this time i'm ready ! or so i hope!

That was fast... only 4 days in your tank! The domestics will be a breeze to work with compared to wilds. I look forward to following your progress.

They laid eggs on sunday (Day 0)
    Here's some photos

    Day 2 eyes forming

    Day 3 wigglers

I'll have to borrow my friend's macro lens to get some better shots but here's what I have for now =)

    Enjoy!

Hmm maybe Rick can Chime in, the male is a Alenquer and the female is a alenquer cross.

about 30 wigglers , hope to see them free swimming soon and attaching to their parents!
