    Default tankmates for FRT

I recommanded one of my customer who has a 240g FRT tank with a few golden dorado as tankmates. His FRT is 10" big and has biten a lot of fish.

For the past 2 weeks, all 4 golden dorado has no damage. This is what has been observed...

The golden dorado are fast moving, never stop swimming hyper active fish. The only time the dorado are restin is when there is very very low light. At that point, the FRT is also resting.

The only issue is when you feed pellets, you need to make sure you have enough for the FRT as the dorado will get to the pellets extremnly fast.

The dorado were 6" 2 weeks ago and now they are 7.5".

I wish I can do the same with my FRT but I do not have a 240g. And the tank my small FRT is in is only a 48g corner so keeping a small school of dorado is pointless.

And lastly, he mentioned that he tried with silver dollars with the FRT. It works just as good as the dorado with the exception that the silver dollars will finish all the veggie before the FRT.

Now it makes me curious... my FRT won't even touch a feeder goldfish! It ONLY eats the sinking wafers I get from Pat, it won't even take the nice fancy Hikari carnivore pellets anymore. Got a vegetarian?

Btw, the 10" FRT, I think I can guess who it is, but hahaha, but that's not really an FRT, more like a puppy dog! it's just way too too too cute!

A 10" FRT is not yet a predatory. FRT are actually more active during lights off. Once it get to 12", it will start biting more and more tank mates especially during the dark. The thing to prevent them from biting other tank mates is always make them have food available. Problem is they become unhealthy and lazy when they get fat.

I got a 12" FRT that I got from Kenta and I ox them with my small growing out fish and the FRT does not bother them. This guy will only only shrimps and pellets. Nothing else, not even fresh veggies.
