Cmn Pleco meets BKF

Well I recently picked up a Black Ghost Knifefish who is about 2 1/2 " and my pleco who is about 3 1/2 years and about 11 " seems awfully curious. They are sharing a 20 G aquarium till I get a 70 G ready for them. My question is the pleco just curious of the BGK or is he out to cause trouble.

could be both, my friends common pleco and african cichlid fight all the time, surprisingly enough a good sized pleco can hold its own
if you see it starting to act like a retard and bump its spiny side fins into the bgk its aggression otherwise it might just be curiosity
its pretty funny watching 2 plecos fight, looks like 2 retarded amputees trying to beat each other with their nubbins

An 11" fish of any kind will be aggressive in a 20 gallon since the fish is half the length of the tank and will view the entire tank as one territory.

And not all plecos fight the same. Pseudas and some of the meat eaters will climb on each other's back and literally eat the other opponent alive. There are plenty of Youtube vids depicting this.

wow cool, i heard about them doing it to rays but didnt know they could do it to each other they seem to be so thick skinned

Update: Pleco just wanted behind the BGK's home as soon as it was moved so he could get around everything was fine. It is nothing now to see the BGK doing his thing next to the CP.
