Red face I think I messed up!

I moved some 2 week old parrot fry into a tank I'm using for grow out, I also have some plecoes, cories, and 1 rubber lip plecoe in that tank, when I put them in they went to the bottom as they do when ever they get put into a new tank enviroment and were in a huddle in 1 corner. They seemed to be doing ok. This morning most were gone. My question is : would bottom guys go after them if too small, I think they did. Boy did I screw up or what,
I guess you learn by your mistakes, won't happen again.

what you listed should not go after the fry is they are somewhat decent size. They might have died from different water and their bodies were being eaten.

Sorry to hear that happened Laurie. We definitely learn from our mistakes, if we know what the mistake was. My guess is Charles is probably right.

same thing happened here too only it was 2 batches - well over 100 babies are in the tummies of some larger fish.

Sad to hear about the fry loss Laurie. I think with any fish fries, they become stress easily and are prone to changes in water parameters as Charles mentioned. I think the culprit may have been just the stress of moving into a new tank and then having to deal with the stress of other fish, thus the behaviour of huddling to one corner. If you have a new batch in the future, I'd probably suggest raising them to a decent size before introducing them into the community tank. Hope to hear you got a new batch and successful school of parrots in the new year
