If you see poop and his stomach is not hollow he's fine. Did you recently get him? If so, it might take a while for him to settle down and eat veggies. Are you offering him veggies after lights out?

Try Romain lettuce sunk down to the bottom of the tank.
a fork will work well to hold it down.
Put it in in the late afternoon and remove it the next afternoon to replace it with more.

I feed my plecos a zucchini a week, and I leave it in there until it is gone, only takes 2-3 days to eat. My other fish pick at it too. If his eyes are sunken he's being stressed, if his stomach is sunken he's not eating. Charles taught me that rule. I find weighing it down works better then clipping it cause they are more likely to eat off the ground then the wall

no sunken eyes or belly. food is either weighed down with a fork or elastic banded to a rock.

its not that he isn't eating, he just he has no interest in veggis and i am concerned that a diet of just wood is not enough to keep him healthy

I found that the bigger the fish, the harder to see it eats.

I can see my L190 coming out to devour a piece of yam. But when I want to see the 12" panaque eats, I have to come with a flash light in darkness, then I see it eats. As soon as I turn on the light, it will go back to guard its hiding spot.

True what Charles says, I've never seen my BEP eat except once. However, I do see my big L190 eat once in a while for some strange reason, but only earthworm sticks. Never see him eat veggies unless I surprise him at night. Might be the size thing.
