Just curious to know how well a pleco would do in hard alkaline waters? And i read somewhere that cichlids love to pick at the eyes of a pleco?
Anyone have experience with this? Any advice?

Is the purpose to help with algae? Or just cleanup? Synodontis would fit much better and do the cleanup. There are a number of plecos which would work, but not be in a natural environment. Most, if not all, plecos prefer softer, more acidic waters, but many, especially domestically bred ones like BNPs can tolerate much hard, more alkaline water.

personally i like l144 they dont get too big and are quite active and good little glass cleaners, and the color is great.
btw whats the footprint of that tank?
it's 4 feet by 2 feet widest part of the bow front and 1.5 at the narrow ends.
But do i have to worry about the cichlid pecking at the eyes?
