    Default Red tail catfish

I just got a 6" red tail catfish. Awsome looking fish. Wondering if any other members have them and how big they are. What kind of food are you feeding them. I'll post pics in a day or so. Also any advise on keeping them is welcome.

Hey Doug I see you bought the catfish I sold Eric. They grow about an inch a week. You can hand feed him and he takes market prawns no problem. Would suggest feeding him a prawn a day till he gets bigger.

Sorry don't mean to be a downer but how big is your tank? That redtail will be huge in no time. He will eat your ray for breakfast and then for lunch he'll have your frozen fillets!!
    Still be hungry afterwards lol
Just a major warning, I've been around redtails for a longtime and one out grew my buds tank in 2yrs and he had a 225g. Which is not huge though but none the less big enough for a while.

I would suggest feeding it once a week to slow its growth down a bit, but make sure he cant swallow his tank mates before doing this. Or the other fish may end up missing...
