    Default Filteration for Cichlids

Hi all I'm pretty much new to Cichlids and I have A 30g with 8 africans in it right now, my Question is I have a aquaclear 150 running the filtration right now and it seems that it is Pooching out slowly, I was thinking of going to a Bio wheel say a penquin 350 or so, is there any beneifit with staying with a aqua clear or going to a Bio wheel????
if anyone can give any advice that be great.

    Thanks.

    Rob..

i love cannister filterss, you dont have to service em as often, dont take up much tank room or make you keep the tank far out from the wall and theyre quiet

I personally love the aquaclears myself. I have several on my tank and every week i clean 1, which takes me 5 minutes. But for your tank i would go with at least the ac 70 or even better the 110.

i've gotta ac110 on my 30gal tank. this is how big the thing looks. i bought more rocks yesterday and this morning i picked up some small acei's. now all i gotta do is make my background. the current is pretty strong...but i think my fish like swimming in it. i've got some sand...and every now and then i've gotta fill up the hole it makes. i was afraid it might suck up the new fish, so i put some cotton around the intake. if you're interested, i bought mine used off a BCA member, aquaboy71 for like 40 bucks...but it didn't come with any sponge media. =( i had to buy that separately. it's not as quiet as my whisper one though.

Nice tank. I got a HOB filter, Big sponge filter, and a fluval 4 plus inner filter for my 40 gallon.

If you are not going canister, the AC110 is an effective filter. Lots of bio and flow. Easy to service too. It can be a bit noisy and also not the best at self priming.
