    Default Giraffe cichlid

I have what I think are a male and female... one is obviously a male as he's 1.5" bigger than the other and has a beautiful blue colour on his head.

My question is how big a tank will they need? They are in my 80gal with a large variety of other mostly mbuna cichlids. So far they are not aggressive at all towards the other fish but I have heard they can be?

Will I need to rehome them?

They are one of the most Agressive Cichlids, 80g you have should be ok, what other types of Mbuna do you have ??? i have a 4" Female in my 77g with a mix of others, and she is doing pretty good with them..

They are in with a big jumble of other cichlids all quite a bit smaller than the male.

Im just in the process of thinning out and deciding which i want to keep. I am pretty attached to my big male though. He's really really pretty now.

I have a pair in my 90 gallon mixed African tank, and they get along fine with the others. I do overstock my tank to curb aggression though. The giraffes are not the largest fish in my tank yet. But it really just depends on the fishes personality. If he's a mean s.o.b. He will always be aggressive. If he's calm and peaceful, he will go great in a mixed African tank. I find some fish are like people, some are nice, some are assholes.

But that's just my 2 cents
