    Default Rubescens Fry or ?

I just stripped the fry from my female Rubescens yesterday and got a bit of a shock. There where around 35 in the brood but 7 of them were albinos

In the tank I have some Albino Protemelas Tiawan Reef (1 male 5 females) but they're eyes are black so not true albinos. I was wondering if the Albino Taiwan Reef fry start with pink eyes or not. Anyone know?

I'm hoping these are albino Rubescens but will wait to see. If there's any interest in the thread I'll post some pics of the hopefull couple and the possible interlopper

    oh and the fry.

The female Rubescens might just have the albino gene in her. She probably will have a few albinos in every brood, Id be interested in a few when you are ready to sell

    Hi Brisch,

I contacted the breeder and he said the same thing, the Rubescens are a line bred fish (not hybrid) and being line bred have a higher insidence of albinoism. (I'm sure that's not a word). I also hear that they were origanally line bred (mainly german breeders) but are now hybrids, other species have been added to the strain. So if this is a hybrid, not line bred, then there is a possibility the albinoism is from her breeding with the Albino Taiwan Reef. I did note the Taiwan reef fry did not have pink eyes so I'm hopefull they are Albino Rubescens, so when I know for sure what I have I'll pm you. Cheers
