So i got three zebra danios the other day, put then in my mixed cichlid tank with some yellow labs and a 5" female green terror, as dither fish

Noticed today that i'm down to two now and that the mouth of the GT would probaby just fit a danio in it, which i hadn't considered before. She also seems to eyeing up the zebras fairly good whenever they get too close

So did she eat one? Should I pull the other two danio's out of the tank? I don't really want them to just end up as a snack...

    They'll end up as snacks!
There's a reason why they're called green TERROR!

I use to have a green terror! She got more and more aggressive as she aged! But worst part is... her agression wuznt to kill to eat, she kills for fun! After she wiped out the whole tank, she killed the last 4 BNP that wuz helping her eat algae in her tank! That's how agressive GT's are~

I got rid of my 10 inch terror a while ago. He killed everything from Texas cichlids to oscars. He even attacked me when I walked by the tank. In the end he was alone in a 130 gallon. So I gave him away. IMO you can only keep these fish alone.

i had 2 green terror males and one oscar with 3 very big common plecs... the green terror would pick on the oscar a lil big but for the most time lived alright...

the terror wouldn't eat the live fish that i put in for feeders but the oscar would suck them all up

I had three pearl danio's in with my breeding pair of GT's and they were fine for months. I did have lots of hiding places at the surface though

Some fish seem to like snacking on certain types of fish. I've had my H.Psittacus snack on my newly purchased Loreto Tetras. They are long and skinny fish. I've had many other small fish in the tank with the parrots and they don't seem to even bother. So not sure why they discriminate but maybe body shape.

    lol ain't that the truth

sorry to hear you lost a couple Tom makes me think back to when I got my first 20 gal, A buddy of mine gave me a few baby black mollies to add some life to it, I got 5 tiger barbs and was hoping they wouldn't eat them especially since thier mouths looked to small to fit them in,,,, boy was I wrong, took less than 3 minutes for them to seek and devour them. Thought one had a chance as he was hiding under a shell, but for some reason he went to swim to the top and next thing you know I'm watching him fight for his life in one of their mouths, I felt so bad about that. I would have to say ...get them outta there

ya i guess i will hope both of them are still in the tank when i get home today...

other than that the GT is fine with the other cichlids, does assert itself re territory if that's required but other than that it doesn't pick on the others or anything...
