    Default Amanos predatory to CRS?

I have 2 rather large size amanos and I notice one of them looked like it was trying to breed with my CRS on closer look it was giving it the kiss of death. Im just wondering do Amanos ever have that tendency to be predatory to other shrimps? I have been feeding them regularly and even when I had not given them food for 2 days they never had done this.

From my experience, amanos will not eat other shrimp unless the shrimp has died, in which case the amano will gladly feed on the body. They can however sometimes act aggressively towards other shrimp when food is involved (although they don't harm the other shrimp).

i got a 2 inch amano, the biggest i ever seen, and they dont seem to care about my baby CRS and RCS. when feeding, the amanos always steal the food until they had their fill and then they will leave.

Like Greg and Trevor said, you just have to worry during feeding as they'll steal the food from the other shrimp and the little buggers will drag it away with them. You want to ensure your whole community of shrimp are getting their fair share.

I have seen one of my Amanos chewing on crs in the past. The crs could have been already dead...

Large Amanos will definitely eat shrimplets. As far as adult shrimp go, I've never seen that, BUT I wouldn't put it past a sick adult CRS.

Absolutely for sure. When I had my original Blue Pearl Shrimp in with adult Amoanos I never had any shrimplets survive. Once I removed the Amanos, my BP's started breeding like rabbits. Not all Amanos will prey upon shrimplets, but in my honest opinion and experience, if adult Amanos get hungry enough.... THEY WILL PREY ON SHRIMPLETS and once they become accustomed to shrimplets as food...... they cannot be trusted with shrimplets again.

I have since introduced 2 small amanos into my BP colony with no adverse results.

    Respectfully,

amanos can be bullies, but i haven't seen them eat live shrimps if they are fed properly...they do tend to be more "aggressive" than other dwarf shrimps tho(like they will take food from each other)

In my past experiences I have never witness Amano harming CRS adults or shrimplet, and have never really noticed the shrimp population decrease due to introducing Amano shrimps in the community.

But there are always exceptions to life.... like a serial killer Amano shrimp.
