Default NAN lights and Bacteria House

If you are a serious aro keeper, you owe it to yourself to have at least one NAN light. This is even more the case if you own a super red Asian arowana.

I want another couple of these lights for myself and so am ordering some in from out east. If we pool our order together we should be able to cut shipping way down, maybe even waive it.

The same goes for Bacteria House sump/filter media. It comes highly rated by serious aro keepers all over the world, and is seldom available inside Canada.

For details on the NAN light order, check here:

I am happy to be the point guy for BC, using Vancouver as the pick up location. If you are out of town, it would still make sense to try and pick up the NAN lights in person somehow as these are fragile items. Shipping by special courier is possible but would add to cost.

For those of you from Alberta wanting in, I suggest you contact Eric direct as I believe he has a contact person handling the group buy there too.

So I'm assuming then the Bacteria house media IS NOT from Momotaro, but instead a Chinese copy? (not that there's anything wrong with that)

It is not the Momotaro and is imported from China.

I have been using this type of bacteria house media for more than a year. I think it did a good job to handle the bio-load of 3 rays, several tigers and one arowana in a 180G.

I have several saltwater tank hobbyists (in Toronto) bought it and found it very useful as well.

It can be used in both fresh and salt water tanks.

    I find 2 by-products after using it.

    - tank water getting clear from both front and side view.

    - I can change water per 2 - 3 weeks rather than per week.

    Thanks.

These Bacteria House things seem interesting. I really don't understand how they work though. Do they go in your sump and that's it or? and how long do they last for? I'm thinking this might be good to get but how many do people recomend? I would try these on a 180g tank with 40g sump.

The key is that the bacteria house media would emit far infrared rays to breakdown the nitrate. If you click on the linkage that Theo's prepared, you could see how I place them in an over-the-top glass sump.

Also, it is needed to apply it proportionately. ie it wouldn't work if you use 5 pieces of bacteria house media for a 350G tank.

In my case, I used about 30 - 35 pieces in that glass sump. I also insert some of them in another 2 canisters (Eheim 2250 and Eheim Pro 3)

Will try to show you guys what I currently have in a short video clip.

On this side, the only way I can ship bacteria house media and nan lights together would be by a professional shipping company (eg Epic Express) at a lower shipping cost. Also, it's unsafe to ship nan lights by Canada Post.
