Just wondering if I can use durofoam 1.5" white styrofoam from Home Depot under a 120g glass trim Aquarium tank.. or should I get something thinner like the 1" but I can compress it with my fingers from the edge of it .. not sure what else I can use..
How out of level is it that you are considering using 1.5 inch foam? Personally i would not trust leveling anything to foam but would prefer wood. Cedar shims are an excellent way to level things. Are you looking to level just the tank or the stand as well?
I hav. 3/4" plywood sheet on stand and then a 1.5" foam... it's off a bit from the front left side of the tank it's not touching the stand so I thought I will shim the stand and plywood rather then shimming tank and the stand
The high density foam is better (pink stuff), but you're unlikely to have a problem with the durafoam. Level the stand at the base as best you can and fill the tank.
The stand is leveled it's the tank and that's not lvled on the stand on the front left corner not touching the stand.. anyone kno where I can grab the pink foam from that's wider then 2ft... my worry is would 1.5" sink in from the middle to touch the glass...
My 6' square tube steel stand for my 125g was not level. The tank would rock back and forth on two of the corners. Quite a bit actually. Once filled, everything settled; no problems, no foam.
OK, I have been following this since the start. How bloody off level are the things you folk are working with??
Inch and a half foam in a 4ish foot tank?
Those stand on rubber mat things are over a half inch?
How and why are things so bad?
I am meaning no disrespect here, I really am just curious why it is so off level or if I am missing something.
