it's all personal preference... go around to the stores around you and see what's available and that might help you decide

If you're looking for more smaller fish, rather than a few larger ones, try looking into some of the South American Dwarf cichlids, along with a school of some sort of tetra.

You could go Africans, in a 55, but if it's colour your after, you'll have to do your research. Many females tend to the drab side, and you want a good M/F ratio to prevent fighting..

So many options! It's great to have a blank canvas like that...
110 gallon Mixed Peacocks & Mbunas.
65 gallon - 2 Koi Angels, misc. cories, BN pleco, zebra danios, rummynose and cardinal tetras

10 gallon Swordtails, betta, dwarf frog
15 gallon Aulonocara baenschi fry tank

    Tango, the golden labrador
    Salty, the panda bear hamster
    2 kids (my favourite pets)

Mferko used to have a tank of African cichlids that was only about 37 gallons (before he upgraded to 125) and it was spectacular when seen in person. He posted some pics here, I think.

I've found one of his videos for you: http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/membe...pawned*-13967/

Just scroll down to the third post there, and you'll find a couple of other videos. He had a journal going at one point but he removed the photos later when he got the bigger tank.

If you decide to go african cichlids Salousi would be a good choice for a tank that size. The male and female are both brightly coloured one blue barred the other a yellow/orange colour. A member has some for sale right now. Not sure what would be a good tank mate with them in an aquarium that size.

    ohh thanks guys.
rreally? u can put dwarf S.African chichlids with a school of tetras? how many would you recommend and can I have more then 2schools etc. I was debating tetras or chichlids, but if i could have both, that would be awsome.

I used to have goldfish, convicts, oscar, guppies.. but all in seperate tanks. Ive been out of the aquarium hobby for a few years, but im back now..

Will post my fireplace/fishtank stand with 3d background when its complete!

That's South American cichlids NOT South African with tetras
