    Default Beneficial Bacteria

I'm trying to colonize new media in an established aquarium. Anyone have any idea about how long this should take? I have about 1KG of ceramic rings sitting in my establish 75G tank. Thanks for the input!

100% depends on how much flow is going through them

I'd say I have good water flow. I have two XP3s and an airstone running... Just looking for a general idea.

It also depends to some extent on what the existing bio-load is currently in your 75 gal tank, and the eventual immediate effectiveness of the newly seeded material (when putting it into the new tank that you presumably want to seed) will also depend on the bio-load you're planning to introduce into the new set-up. Are you with me on this, or am I assuming the wrong objective here ?
To be on the safe side, I would give it more than a week, up to 2 or 3 weeks, as the seeding will develop slowly in the new media, only enough to maintain the bio-level necessary to deal with the bio-load that's currently in your 75.

Hello, 2 weeks is what i would do. if i were going to start a new filter i would run it on an existing tank for 2 weeks so i think that you would be good with that. Cheers
