Default [Betta] Does he need a "hammock"?

My betta has taken to resting on top of the Fluval Nano filter in the tank, just below the water's surface. Been doing this for a while and thought nothing of it, but then I recently saw a product that's like a hammock or bed for betta's and it led me to wonder, how many betta owners actually do this? Is it totally un-necessary?

It's not neccessary. Bettas will rest on anything. I real plant would probably be much more comfortable.

Yeah, he rests on the wisteria and anubias too. But the favourite spot is on top of the filter.

Is it possible that your betta is picking the top of the filter because there's less filter there? Atom's betta was hiding under the filter when he was in the Ebi, that's why I'm wondering. (I'm thinking of getting a betta for my Ebi, too, so I've been thinking about the current.)

Mine likes to rest on top of the heater or on the plant leaves. If you want to try it, go for it, but be prepared for the betta to ignore it if he likes the other spot better...

    Gone fishing....

I've got a big swath of open space that's relatively current-free so he doesn't get thrown around, the spray bar and the flow adjustment's pretty good for that. I've turned it down even more this past couple of days as he doesn't seem very enthusiastic about his food... hopefully he works his way out of it.
