[Betta] Does he need a "hammock"?

Is it possible that your betta is picking the top of the filter because there's less filter there? Atom's betta was hiding under the filter when he was in the Ebi, that's why I'm wondering. (I'm thinking of getting a betta for my Ebi, too, so I've been thinking about the current.)

i think you're right. even though it may seem like there are open spaces with seemingly no current, with a filter in your tank, no matter what there will be current. think about it this way, bettas live in rice paddies and marsh lands where there is absolutely NO current and the environment is very heavily planted. i think if you add some more plants in a condensed area, then maybe it will block the current a little more.

My crown tail liked to retreat underneath the filter sometimes. It could have been because of the current. He doesn't like any sort of water movement.

My new plakat Betta on the other hand does not mind the current in his spec at all. He is much more active in comparison.

I got one of those for my betta. He doesn't rest on it, so I used it as a bloodworm feeding station for a while. He likes resting on the sand/gravel.
