Breeding killifish

Hi I have a pair of lyretail killifish that I wish would breed. She continues to produce eggs and look interested, but he is useless and ignores her until she ultimately reabsorbs her eggs. Anyone know what might cause this, or what I might to do get him in the mood?

Lyretails are some kind of aphyosemion, I think. I used to have aphyosemion primigenium and kept 4 adults in a 6 gallon Eclipse. It was heavily planted and I used to add Seachem Equilibrium although later someone told me they prefer soft water. (I misunderstood when I got them) They used to have fry constantly, and the fry would be of all different ages, growing up together in the same tank with the parents. They seemed to appreciate a little crowding, since there were 2 breeding pairs in the same tank. They were very interesting fish and spent a lot of time gazing at me like little philosophers.

Maybe it's just a question of waiting. It could be that the male is a little young. Or, perhaps, add another pair? (Better check this first, as I don't know anything about lyretails). Graham at Noah's Pet Ark is a great source of information about killifish.
