Default How do you trim HC without putting your hands in the water?

    Hi:

Does anyone know any tool long enough for trimming HC without putting your hands in the water?

I am planning to make such a tool with a small pair of scissors and long sticks.

I heard people plant their HC in a mesh and remove the mesh to trim the HC.

    Thanks

I use this little tool I got at Petland (I think) a couple years ago. It has an interchangeable pruning end & grabber end. It also folds in half.
Maybe one of the sponsors carry them?

    Thanks.

Now I see a disadvantage of prunning underwater. The HC clippings will go all over the tank and I will spend lots of time cleaning it.

Maybe I go get some aluminum mesh.

I just resigned myself to cleaning the clippings with a gravel siphon and then using my net to skim the surface. I do the pruning before a water change. It doesn't take too long.
