    Default How Much Sand.

I managed to pick up a bag of black Tahitian moon sand from Mr. Pets the other day. Really nice looking sand, and I can't wait to get it in my tank.

Thing is, apparently 20 pounds of sand is a lot less than 20 pounds of gravel lol. I kinda didn't keep that in mind, so the one bag isn't quite enough.

I've never used sand before, and I was wondering if anyone might have an idea as to how much more my 55 gallon would need. It's about $30 a bag, and I don't want to spend another $60 if I don't have to.

What is your target depth of the sand that you want? 1", 2", 3"?
    Hope the below links help.

Sand tends to compact so you would not want as much as if it were gravel. 2 bags likely enough for a 55.

Two bags is perfect, then. That calculator thing keeps saying I want 77 pounds worth of sand haha.

    Thanks for the help
