New cycle with used ada and established media ????????????

Do you think it's safe to add my shrimp it has been two weeks with used ada in a 20 gallon long and hob filter with used media I haven't seen any readings of nitrite do you think it is to soon or do you think it was a instant cycle what about the ada would that be letting off ammonia spike still and just not able to get nitrite readings yet ??? nitrites are at 0 or yellow reading lowest

As long as your ammonia and nitrite readings are both zero, you should be good to go for shrimp (as the filter media was previously cycled). New ADA is soaked in ammonium and therefore releases it upon initial set-up. If really concerned you could always try a test shrimp.

Oh ya forgot to mention I have had 40 endler fry in the tank and the ada was used over a year ago has been in a bucket untill two weeks ago . I don't have a ammonia test kit

For ada its always best to get a test kit for your shrimp tank just to be sure that readings are indeed at zero just to be safe
