Default power surge took my lighting out

I was doing some electrical with my land lord and long story short blew the the lights in my 72 gallon Bow front tank. I added a picture and was just wondering if someone could tell me what I have and maybe what I should get condsidering I run my lights off a "timer". I also have really no idea of the cost either so that would be great help. I was going to go down to king ed in a bit but I am also meet up with Charles soon and think he has some lights to. Right now the tank has a cover and something To direct the light because obviously the light in the picture has to be directed at the tank.

Thanks guys so much. I am no expert in this.

I bought a couple of APC 450 watt uninterpretable power supplies (UPS) on sale at London Drugs during the summer.
They can power air pumps and lights for a couple of hours and have surge protection on all 6 outlets.

A UPS is a good investment

alright thanks. Its on a power surge now. Prety sure the one it was on before was protected from power surge to but its not guranteed when you start messing around with the braker and turning it off and on... I know should of un plugged it but my land lord was the one doing it so... The lighting is what I really need a hand with now. It could of been worse the way I look at it.

It looks like a T5 light strip.

Defiantly a T5, which is a good efficient light, check the wattage on the bulb to get a replacement. your probably looking at about $28.00 + tax. a bulb at your local pet store. Cheers
