Again. For at least the 12th time now. And when I remove the heater, they spawn on the grill of the UV unit. Silly, silly flat fish

This pair spawns every 4-6 days and has been doing so since I got them from April a couple of months ago. They have made it to wigglers four times now, but none have attached. There is a female solomon in the tank that they've adopted to act as a "nanny". She's allowed to stay very close to them and watch the eggs and the last group of wigglers even tried to attach to her - they were swimming all over her face and dorsal fin they even swam into her mouth, but she kept shaking them off. She didn't even try to eat any.

And then this happened at the other end of the tank last week:

I never did figure out who was what in that threesome

So what kind of music you playing to set the mood for them? Little bit of Barry Manilow? Tonny Bennett? Tom Jones? Frank Sinatra? Just messing with ya! Nice to see your flat fish prospering, but no offspring to add to the million kribs you have! Anything else you doing or changing to get them breeding ?

Well I do keep NEWS 1130 playing on the radio all day to keep Ember company.....

I should have known I was in trouble with the pair of cuips the second I brought them home - the female dropped 5 or 6 eggs as soon as she was out of the bag and into the water and they had a full spawn the next day. As far as what's happening at the other end of the tank, well, that's still anyone's guess. All I know is I woke up to a ton of white/beige eggs on the UV unit being guarded by the inanu discus, a red cover throwback female (who has only laid bright red eggs in the past) and the mystery runt.

And I'll never know what Franck did to those kribs before I got them, but they have never stopped producing since I brought them home. A couple of weeks ago I even had angelfish spawning in the Osaka. I'm just waiting for the day I go home to find the pearlscales at it I just bet baby pearlscales would be soooooo cute

    Still laughing.

If you want to calm them down, you could always sing to them .

I don't think singing would have helped them this time around. Looks like daddy got a little passive aggressive when the female insisted on laying eggs on the heater. He went through the movements, but he held on to his goods. All the eggs where white (unfertilized) this morning. Poor guy must be worn out.

Saw this pair dancing while I was there picking up the tank and stand. They like the clean environment you given them that's the reason they go WILD in your tank.
Not only the discus display tank. Your Osaka and 22 gallon long are really spotless too. Your doing a great job with your tanks.

Sniff, sniff (as I wipe a tiny tear away from the corner of my eye)....
I'm completely gobsmacked. Coming from a fishkeeper whom I totally respect and admire, this means a GREAT deal to me, Mello. I do try my best with the beasties and I appreciate your very kind and generous (we both know the Osaka was a SWAMP!!!) comments.
