Regular packaged sand like Caribsea stuff I've done many times. You might have issues with soils. And yeah, its many times cheaper than in Canada.

Those might be problematic but to be honest, if you are driving one bag back with the rest of your regular purchases, nobody would ever care but that's all up to you if you want to take the risk. If you are actually doing a substantial amount then you might not want to. I've got no experience with that stuff tho. I just heard there are restrictions on soil imports.

Yes as the word dirt is a no no.
Calculate your gas, time , taxes, the possibility of it beimg seized etc and see if really cheaper. Not to mention spending on other things and
Food you wouldn't of spent if you didn't go.
    Aquariums west has it.

I've got ADA soils available. I can have it shipped to you very easily.

The ADA soils are not only great for plants but also for shrimps if you decide to go that route.
    Here fishy fishy.......

    CanadianAquatics

Currently breeding and have lots available of:
-Tiger, red cherry, crystal red and black, golden bee, yellow, and pearl blue shrimps
    -King Tiger (L-066) plecos
    -Dwarf Orange Mexican crayfish (CPO)

We also have pure Levamisole HCl for treating the callamanus worms and
we also carry "No Planaria" for getting rid of planaria with out killing your shrimps, fish and plants.

Yeah, if you are not driving, then forget it. I do it for myself as I do a full shop down there about once a month with the wife and kids. But if you are just looking for soil, sounds like Pat has got a solution for you. Definitely not worth doing just for the soil.

If you don't live In Vancouver then I'd say get pat to ship. The reason it's more cost
Y up here is due to the paperwork, permits, etc etc etc. it took myabi quite awhi,e to get his permits etc.
Or..there's other options. Like turface. Talk to bonsai Dave about it.
