Default Tell me about your love for endlers

Wanted to hear from folks who love endlers what makes you love them so much... my Ebi is suddenly in need of of a tankmate or tankmates for the dwarf cory's, and I see they're pretty popular.

What's so awesome about endlers vs guppies vs platies?

    Thanks!

Smaller and more harder to start with I also like their smaller size and colour of the pure breed.

I heard endlers may go after the shrimp eggs/shrimplets though.

i personally got into keeping endlers because the only lake/body of water they ever lived in is now right beside a massive landfill/dump.
when they built the dump the waterways got changed and now the lake is either dried up or pollluted so bad nothing can live in it.

i like the idea of keeping something from extinction
because it will never live naturally in the wild again.
currently i have 19 tanks running, by the end of the month i will have 34 running

The males have amazing colours. Try to be sure and get true endlers though. Before long there will likely be too many and youll be trying to finding someone to take them off your hands.

I read that about their natural habitat being destroyed too... the things we do to this planet :/

I haven't ruled out actually putting shrimp into the Ebi... just wanted to suss out the other possibilities and there seems to be a lot of endler love going on around here

I kept cherry shrimp with endlers in a 25 gallon. Just add a clump of java moss, and they should be okay.

I have endlers with shrimps as well and it took almost an year, but shrimps are finally breeding well there. Moss, subwatertang, etc plants seems to help a lot
And what I love about them is... not sure, they are small, colourful, hardy, fast and just generally a very sweet fish to watch. I agree about the pure once. A friend got some from me and later mixed them with guppies. I saw the tank recently and I didn't like it

I like endlers cause they seem like a practical fish, nice and colourful but dont look ridiculously domesticated like some guppies do. They can be really hardy fish.
Also its always cool to get a colony going and have baby fish in the tank, my little cousins love to see baby fish.
Endlers also usually tend to go well with any thing. Shrimp and endlers are fine as long as theirs enough java moss and cover for the shrimplets to hide in =)

I too prefer Endlers over guppies for their more "natural" look and their hardiness. Lovely little guys. In fact I'll soon likely be looking for a few for my 48G...

I love endlers because they are beautiful without looking overbred (if that's the word). They're extremely hardy and they don't seem to eat their babies. I find that they mostly don't eat baby shrimp, either, except for the very large pregnant female endlers, which look like female guppies. Even so, in a planted tank many of the baby shrimp survive if they don't get sucked into the filter. And even a very large pregnant female endler will not eat an adult shrimp.

Endlers are active but seem happier in a small tank than white cloud minnows do. The males remain very tiny. If you don't want a lot of babies, then you should get just males! But it's so fun to watch the babies grow up.
