Default Victoria beware of bad water!!!

Fellow Victoria aquariests beware. I did a water change my 55 gallon wide tank the other day & noticed a few of my fish had fungas not long after. I thought it was strange as I never had any fish sick in that tank & have not added any fish for months. I just did a water change on my other 55 gallon tank yesterday & today 2 of my loaches are sick with fungas as well, & not just a little bit, they are covered, & in less than 24 hours after changing the water.

Before anyone says anything, yes I do use water conditioner ect. when I change my water, & the fish have not been stressed in any way. I have added medicine to the water, it got rid of the fungas in my 55 gallon wide tank I changed the water in a few days ago, so hoping I don't loose any of my fish in the tank I just changed the water in.

Is this true fungus? As in fuzzy appearance? True fungus is a secondary infection and usually only grows on damaged tissue. Some pictures would be great, not doubting you, just seems odd.

It sure looks like fungus, my 2 loaches look like they had a bath in fuzzy chalk, from head to tail & not acting like normal, the poor guys are huddled up together under a peice of stone.

I am close to Tillicum mall & we are on city water.

I just checked all the water levels & they are all fine including chlorine, but doesn't mean there isn't some kind of paracite in the water. There was a warning around this time last year about paracites in the water & advised to boil water.

Here is a picture of one my poor loaches

Wow! Poor fish! It's really good that you are observant and treated them immediately. I hope they recover quickly. Please let us know. Good luck!

that doesn't look like fungus. It is more of an issue of slime coat problem.

    should check your water parameter.

I hope your fish recover, I'll be extra careful too when I do a water change on the tank since I'm in Victoria too.

And if it affects your fish this quickly, think about how it would affect us drinking the water Lets hope they inform the residents if there really are parasites in the water.

The fungus spread yesterday to my Platy's, Cory's & saw it beginning on 2 of my plecos. I finally got my heater to work properly last night & got the heat up to 83-84, & this morning when I got up all my fish were cleared up exept my male platy still has a very little bit & I did lose 1 female Cory. So leaving heat up for another night & hopefully tomorow my platy will be better as well.
