    Smile Hi from Nanoose Bay!

Hey Everybody! I'm new to this forum and forums in general. Decided I should finally join instead of just reading other peoples posts for hours on end! A bit about me...I had a 33 gallon community tank for quite a few years that ended up leaking. Brought all the fish to my LFS and took an LOA from the hobby. Missed my tank horribly, so back in January, I purchased a 75 gallon tank and stand off craigslist and added a Rena XP3 canister, Marineland Stealth Pro 250W Heater (aware of the stop-sale...waiting for a replacement to be shipped), Hagen Glo T5 HO Double 48" fixture (1 Life-Glo/1 Power-Glo), and 120 lbs of Eco Complete. Starting a planted tank for the first time (scary!). Cycled the tank using pure ammonia (worked great!) and used the time to do some research. Ordered my plants from Aqua Flora through Patrick of Canadian Aquatics (great experience & product!) and just finished planting a couple days ago. Added 15 Harlequin Rasboras, 6 Rummy Nose Tetras, and 3 Amano Shrimp yesterday and they all seem to be doing great. I have well water here so it's a little harder and more basic than I'm used to (originally from Vancouver). My PH is 7.4, GH 140ppm, and KH 70ppm. I have Metricide and dry ferts on hand but have yet to dose anything...Want to keep things as simple as possible and I've always been a (successful) minimalist when it comes to fish keeping so I'm trying to wrap my head around what I NEED to do instead of just winging it...
Anyway, great site - glad to be here.

Thanks bingerz. It was actually those tanks that inspired me to take the plunge and try live plants for the first time. I don't expect my first attempt to compete with those, but you gotta start somewhere right?
