Hey all, just getting back into the fishy scene after a many year absence, never really knew much back then either! We just got a 55g, planning on lightly planted community tank. Started with a hob filter but just set up the Fluval 305 today, and ordered a 46-60 Marineland reef led this morning. Will be nice to have lots of light to see our little guys...as of now we have 4 red eyed tetra's, 4 something danio's, 4 bristlenosed pleco's, 2 regular and 2 albino, 2 aquatic frogs and 1 betta, only 2 weeks in so that's it for now...so far so good! Here is a pic on day one, just finished building the stand and filling it up...looks a little different now.

    welcome to the forum:-)

if you're open to friendly suggestions...
...danios are nippy, it's how they communicate. They should always be in groups of at least 6 fish or they'll take their frustration out on other fish. They're a bad mix with bettas.
...most turtles will (sooner or later) bite slow moving or bottom-resting fish like bristlenose plecos (or otos, hillsteam loaches, corys, etc). They're a bad mix with bettas.

    cheers, Storm

Hi Storm, we are very open to suggestions, both pretty new at this. I have noticed the danios are pretty aggressive, I think we will get some more and see how that works. Our son picked out the betta and I wanted to try him in the big tank instead of the tiny bowl, I may isolate him in the 55g instead of moving him to the bowl...he sure seems to enjoy all the room to move though! Oh, and I meant to say frogs, not turtles...it was late

Well, it looks like my cycle is near complete so we have added a few more inhabitants...now have 6 red eyed tetras, 6 danios, 6 neon tetras along with the previously mentioned...loving the Fluval 305 and looking forward to the new Marineland reef ready 48" led!
