Maybe this should just be a sticky with only Grant's first post and locked.

They are offering a service and if further enquiries are required, then members can PM Grant and ask... I dont think its fair for IPU to turn this into a discussion/flame war.

    Thanks Smiladon,
I don't really mind, it might actually help for people to see some of the replies to get the point across that this is a service we offer, not some sort of mandatory responsibility but rather something we choose to do for the benefit of the fish.

    Default Trade In live stock

If I keep on purchasing HM bettas and small tanks, I will soon run out of space in a condo! I would be most grateful if you can do trade in for my Healthy OHM Bettas.

This service is provided to help the hobbyist by providing an option of dealing with fish that have outgrown their aquarium or the hobbyist simply wants a "change". We also accept locally bred fish from any local breeder.

We offer an in store credit which can be used within a 6 month period. Generally we offer our clients anywhere from 0% to a third of the resale value. Keep in mind this range is gauged by the health of the fish, type of fish and quantity of the fish. Also keep in mind that we do not give a store credit for certain larger fish such as Pacu, Oscars, Red Tail Cats etc. These fish are very hard to relocate due to their size and generally are not worth it financially to upkeep these fish. We will accept all fish but often the same reason a hobbyist wants to trade their fish in is the same reason other hobbyists are not interested in those fish.

Please note all trades must be physically seen to assess their value.
    Thank you,
    IPU

As the sticky states, we do accept fish for in store credit practically on a daily basis. If you would like to bring a few in for us to evaluate we can assess the value for you.

It worked well for me... I donated "orange dude" (albino rainbow shark 5") and I was happy to see him go into the big display tank.

First of all, thanks for offering this service.

Are there any general guidelines about how old a trade-in fish should be? I woke up this morning to find another batch of black molly babies hiding in the weeds, and I also have a lot of little guppies swimming around. They're fun to watch, but there won't be enough room in my 29 gallon tank to hold that many more adults.

What I find interesting is that few people seem to have read the entire initial post by Rastapus, who by the way amazes me with his patience and politeness, not to mention his knowledge. You HAVE to take them in to find out IF they'll take them and HOW MUCH credit you will recieve from them. It's quite simple really....
