Is the Black tang at the bottom of the page the same type of black tang I saw in your Burnaby store? Is it a Thompsoni tang or do you have the scientific name for that species (the one in your store especially)?
Thanks,
Anthony
Actually it is a Vanuatu variant. It is an Acanthurus species but not a thompsoni. On the reef it is jet black.

Thanks for the prompt reply Grant.
So, the "black tang" sold at your Burnaby store is not a Acanthurus thompsoni. Hmmm, would be nice to know which species it is. I'm guessing its a Vanuatu endemic. Wonder if it has a Latin name I can look up.

Tough to say. Ring tail's for example have a clear white ring when juvenile where as this fish is jet black so it is unlikely to be a juvenile thompsoni. Also, my previous fish biologist listed it as an Acanthurus sp. suggesting a variant.
