About Jacksmom
My husband and I have considered fish keeping for quite a few years and last year (January 2016) we took the plunge. We started with a 26g bowfront planted aquarium and a male mustard gas halfmoon betta we named Jack. We are having a hard time with learning to balance a planted tank. My husband is more interested in the "planted tank" aspect while I love the aquatic critters. We are really enjoying this new hobby as much as we expected to and look forward to improving our knowledge and skills to provide our aquatic friends the best life we can:) Our current set ups are:

26 gallon bowfront aquarium
Aquatop cf400uv external canister filter
Fluval Full Spectrum LED 7500k/32W (24"-34") on the lowest setting
Seachem Black Flourite Sand
Fluval 200w heater (76F)
1 piece Spiderwood and 1 piece Malysian driftwood
2 100g packets of Seachem Purigen
6 platties and 3 guppies
Carolina Bacopa, Nymphoides Taiwan, Alternanthera reineckii mini, unidentified plant, Hornwort and Duckweed

10 gallon Tetra aquarium kit
Whisper 2-10i filter
Natural filtered light from window
Petland brand black gravel
Tetra 50w heater (78F)
2'" clay pot with aquarium silicon plugging the drainage hole
Activated carbon
Fringetail betta named Tyler
3 Marina "Naturals" silk plants

10 gallon Tetra aquarium kit
Fluval 106 canister filter
Stock LED light that came with the kit
Petland brand black gravel
Fluval 100w heater (78F)
Petland cave, 4" clay pot with bottom dremelled out
100g packet of Seachem Purigen
Halfmoon betta named Angelface and 2 horned nerite snails
Cryptocoryne Usteriana and large Anubias

9 gallon Fluval Flex all in one aquarium
Stock pump
Stock LED multicolor light ( I only use the white light setting)
Seachem Flourite Black Sand
Tetra 50w heater (80F)
4" clay pot with bottom dremelled out
Activated carbon
Doubletail betta named Qwerty
Cryptocoryne Usteriana and large Anubias

The community tank is fed Fluval Premium Fish Flakes once daily and bloodworms once weekly
The bettas are fed Hikari Bio-Gold mini betta pellets, 3-5 daily spread out between 5:30 am and 6:00 pm and bloodworms once weekly
All exchange water (we use tap water) is treated with Prime and Seachem Equilibrium to maintain a GH of 6 (it's 3 out of the tap) and our KH sits steady at 4
Exchange water is aerated, treated and heated 24-48hrs prior to use
PH ranges between 7.4 and 7.6 across all tanks
I use a PMDD powder fertilizer from Canadian Aquatics and Po4 since the pre-made mix does not contain any
I complete 25-30% pwc's once weekly on all tanks
The three tanks with lights are on a timer which turns on at 12:00 pm and goes off at 7:00 pm.
