Not a royal knifefish. It's a juvinile clownknife that is starting to loose baby stripes and turning into spots.

that's right it is a clown knife, looks very striped more so then any clown knife I’ve ever seen but i never see any this small,

the shop had a couple of them this guy was the most striped I was starting to second guess myself that he might be a royal lol, the others in the tnak also had stripes but allot less of them and not as far up the body so didn’t look like royals, there was also one that was just solid grey as well.

I picked this guy thinking more stripes would equal more spots , anyone know if that will pan out or if it's completely unrelated ?

yes, i have read the title said only 3" now. from the video look bigger, and he hide inside so cant see very clear ! i really like clown knife ! where did u get him ?

Well... not really but the spots are now showing up so you will know how many it will have. That's why I don't buy small ck that still have the baby stripes as the spots are still unpredictable on how many.

Ya it is the only option in my next of the woods , i can see several spots forming one looks as if it'll have a white ring in the spot! whould be neat if that can happen ?
