how big of a clown knife are you thinkin?
i have lots of tanks
and im a welder who likes playing with glass
Depends on the cichlid some are too aggressive will pick at the knife. assuming they arnt second problem will be size. the CK will grow much faster then the cichlids
and as soon as they seem small enough too fit they will be eaten, a dozen convicts went into mine this week lol
second consideration is a 80 will only last the clown knife for a year and that’s IF it grows slowly and will need a something 260g+ in they grow to 2-3' long , rapidly hit 18+ inches before growth slows.

My biggest CK is at 26" and it's 6" years old got it at 11". CK hits 18" the first year and 20-21" the second year if keep well feed in a larger tank and with a good filter and regular water changes.
Wow that's just to big way to fast, i can handle that growth over say 2 year's, any chance the Banded Knife grows any slower. I'm asking about these 2 fish because i have kept Black Ghost as well as Brown Knives in the past and would like something new, and I do love my knife fish. Thank You all again ... ... David
