Default help i.d the disease in my tanks a.s.a.p

Hi all I have been having an issue with my 150 gallon I have a tsn around 10 inches that developed POP eye the rest of my fish seem fine but are breathing heavier than normal but the tsn is breathing really shallow I have already started treatment with melafix raised the temp to 82 but I'm still concerned that there could be gill flukes or some other parasite in his gills and possibly the others I've been searching online the past few nights but its always better if someone can pass the knowledge on I.stead of trying to do frustrated and fast research thanks to anyone that replies

You should post your water parameters to start.

    Cheers,

    Default hi again

My ph is 6 I don't have any other test kits which hinders me and anyone trying to help as well but I do every second day a gravel vac and about 5% and a weekly 30-40% water change I'm going to bring some water with me to work and pop by pet land for a full test and purchase a full kit as i should have replaced my other testers but never got around to it and am paying for it now

heavy beathing is caused by low O2 (a heater increase) pop eye is caused by bad water quality/ unheathly fish (i know it sounds like an attack on your fish keeping, but its really not; unhealthy fish can be old, previously sick, etc) i would add a air stone to get the O2 up

    Default thanks

Yea I noticed they were breathing heavier so I positioned my filters outputs to hang and added a spray bar I also am running a 200 gallon air pump with two points of entry so the breathing got better I think as my aro has grown to 18 inches hes stealing all the oxygen lol and yea I had a fish I bought last weekend added with no qt stupid me and he passed a few days after I purchased him and it seems as if the tsn got it then i just don't know if melafix is the desired treatment or should I go strong with a.p.I parasite remover and then treat his pop eye after because his shallow breathing has me worried

Doing a gravel Vac that often is not necessary and possibly a bad thing. You could be disturbing the substrate and not allowing beneficial bacteria to grow on it. If it's getting dirty that fast you are massively overfeeding.. which in turn means bad water and unhealthy fish.

Well my fish are massive eaters and poopers lol there is never any food left on the gravel after only 5 minutes everything that's on the bottom come and feed in one spot oscars and aro eat floating pellets or dried shrimp my problem isn't over feeding its too much waste the bio activity is too hard for my wimpy filters since my fish have all grown and my silver aro needs to go into a bigger tank bit before I can re home some of my smaller fish I will need to fix this
