IMO any fish that outweighs myself I would consider monster.

As far as most home aquariums go? I would say anything 12" and over. Not to say that a 4" cardinal wouldn't be a monster cardinal lol.

If you think you got a monster fish, then call it a monster fish regardless of the size. Even a small 2" candiru catfish is a monster fish as it will suck on other fish blood or go to people's genitals if they pee in the water.

If you think they are monsters, then yeah go for it. I too have 5 oscars myself. Usually a monsterfish is anything unusual or oddball looking.

imo a monster fish is a fish that meets most of these descriptions: that CAN grow to a decent size, eats other fish and meat, oddball/ not in the common aquarium

Monster fish doesn't have to be a meat eater or gets big or not common in aquarium. Monster fish comes in different sizes, shape, eating habit, attitude etc etc. It varies in different people's opinion.

There are monster fish that max out 1" and some can grow as big as 10 feet or more. As I said, anything unusual or oddball looking is considered a monster fish regardless of the size and shape or whatever it eats.

IMO a monster fish is a fish that can outgrow the biggest tank you can afford in your house and your wife have to complain about the food bill every month .
