Default What would you get next ?

So I’m looking for suggestions, for fun i thought I’d post and see what people think

I'm quite happy with my Monster tank's progress,

I have a 240g tank, ton's of filtration and more too come, My next tank will be 1200g (16x4 footprint), and I’m building the DIY filtration for it first so this 240 for a while will be way over filtered lol.

Any way Current stocking is as follows

    2.1 Endli Bichirs
    2.1 Ornate Bichirs
    1-Spotted Gar
    1-RTG Aro
    1-Oscar
    1-Indo Dat

All fish are roughly 14-20", with the exception of the Dat who's only probably 7-8 but he's a PIG and growing quickly , oh ya and there is a “sun catfish” was a small adoption who apparently doesn’t taste good because he’s grown out to roughly 6” In with the monsters and does a great job at cleaning up scraps!

Next fish added will be a Clown knife, (just growing out a bit more first as he looks too much like a snack right now lol) and a pair of motoro ray's 14" ish. These are fish I’ve already arranged/

I’ve started researching options for my next additions , I’m not looking to pack them too tightly so I won’t likely actually purchase the next species until I have the 1200g tank up and running.

I have a couple ideas in mind but I’m curious what YOUR next addition would be ? If in my shoe's with my current stocking, after upgrading the tank what would you buy next ?

thought it would be a fun topic!

At 1200g it won't be too pack. There will be more space.

LOL got it King-eL more of everything, but only can get one thing at a time so what's next let's get specific ha ha ha

I like Arapaima and RTC , but both would likely outgrow even my 1200g, and that is as large as i'll be able to go for the foreseeable future, and RTC I worried would outgrow then likely swallow all my others, i don’t trust big mouth catfish! But both cross my mind every time i see them available lol

Fire eel is on the list! it's another bottom dweller i've wanted just haven’t found any available around here larger then 4-6"

Another question while were tossing ideas around. Has anyone ever kept a true school of indo dat's ? I've heard they school when in group's but never seen more then 2-3 large dats in one tank and in my experience you need 5-7 fish MIN too trigger schooling behavior.

If they don’t, can anyone suggest a mid level fish who get's 12-16" and would stick together in a school if I put 7-13 together ?? And of course wouldn’t end up a snack to the other’s lol

I would get those Dorados that Charles has or some Cichla. In 1200 they would have room to swim and be spectacular.

I second the dorados. If my tank were large enough I wouldn't think twice about getting a group. The cool thing with them is that they provide a lot of movement to the tank, very active feeders as well.

I would also consider some p-bass. Large specimens are beautiful and something to behold.

dorado in a tank environment will not grow as large. They school great in a 6 foot tank when small. Just imagine how nice they will school when they are 12" in a much bigger tank.
