hey i have a blue orfe in my coldwater tank and my uncle kept saying thats fine they grow to size of tank. but i was shocked to hear from a buddy that they can reach up to 30inches in length. should i put blue orfe to pond straight away lol hes only 5inches long at the moment but swims up and down aquarium faster than my other coldwater fish do.

You do realize that this fish needs plenty of space to be happy(several thousand gallons of pond water) and shouldnt be kept in an aquarium. They have the potential to reach several feet if feed properly and given space to grow.

its a myth that fish grow to tank size. What will happen instead is possibility of stunting the fish so it'll be smaller (or deformed) when compared to its own species. Still though, most fish will outgrow the tank despite this happening.
